How the Kia logo led to thousands of ‘wrong’ Google searches – Times of India
They say a picture is worth thousand words but then this logo is worth perhaps worth thousands of Google searches. And that too wrong ones. We are talking about the logo of the South Korean automotive brand Kia. Back in 2021, Kia Motors unveiled the new logo and in a press release said this, “The rhythmical, unbroken line of the logo conveys Kia’s commitment to bringing moments of inspiration, while its symmetry demonstrates confidence.”
What it perhaps it didn’t anticipate how it will look to others. Ashwinn Krishnaswamy, who runs an ad agency, in a tweet highlighted how the Kia logo is making people search with the wrong keyword on Google (so much for SEO keywords!).

In a tweet, Krishnaswamy pointed out that the new Kia logo is “so unreadable” that at least 30,000 people per month search for “KN car” instead of Kia car.
A report by The Drive further delves deep into the search trends of “KN” car. The search trends, as per The Drive, also reveal people search for “what car brand is kn” or “what is kn car” or “what kind of car is kn”.
Interestingly, when one does search for “kn car” on Google or other search engines, it’s Kia that pops up as the first or second result. We aren’t sure if Kia actually intended this but the good thing for the brand is that people still end up going to Kia-related links.
Last year also, it was reported that on Reddit there was a spike about people asking about “Km” car.
