According to a report in USA Today, “Lexi Larson posted on her TikTok account about how she got a new job in the tech industry that raised her income from $70,000 to $90,000.” The video reportedly received 168,000 views. Seemingly excited with the response, she posted more videos in the following two weeks. In these videos, she talked about how she got her new job.
Larson said that soon her employer discovered her TikTok account. This made her remove some videos fearing her seniors might get offended. However, it seems this was too late, as in a later video she said that she was fired for her TikTok posts. “So, TikTok got me fired,” Larson said in the video. As for the reason for her sacking, she said that she was told that they are firing her “because they said me having this account was a safety concern because I could post something private.”
Larson then went into detail about knowing that talking about her salary is federally protected by law under the National Labor Relations Act in the US. She however, did not disclose her employer’s name.
