Huawei P50 Pocket: Price, availability

The Huawei P50 Pocket, which was released today in China, costs CNY 8988 (about Rs 1,06,000) for the 8GB of RAM and 256GB internal storage variant. The base model is available in two colour options of Crystal White and Obsidian Black. A premium Glit Gold Edition with 12GB RAM and 512GB storage is also available for CNY 10,988 (roughly Rs 1,29,900). It also goes for sale from today itself in China.

Huawei P50 Pocket: Specifications

The smartphone comes with a 6.9-inch AMOLED display with a 21:9 aspect ratio. The display has a 120Hz refresh rate as well as a 300Hz touch sampling rate. The multi-dimensional hinge, which has a smaller radius than its predecessors, is a standout feature of the whole design of the smartphone. The company at the launch event said that it spent years perfecting this important feature of the phone, which allows it to fold inward like a clamshell.

The Huawei P50 Pocket is equipped with a 4,000mAh battery that supports 40W SuperCharge rapid charging. It houses Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 888 processor, although it only supports 4G networks. Other highlights include up to 12GB of RAM and 512GB of internal storage, Wi-Fi 6, front and rear camera face unlock, and a fingerprint scanner on the side. The device is just 7.2 mm thick when unfurled and 15.2mm thick when folded in. It weighs about 190 grams.

Further, the flippable smartphone comes with a unique triple rear camera setup, with a 40MP True Chroma camera, a 13MP ultra-wide-angle lens, and a 32MP Ultra Spectrum camera with a 10 channel Multi-Spectrum sensor and an Ultra Spectrum illuminator. While the main and wide-angle lenses are pretty standard, it is the tertiary sensor that gives the camera its unique edge. Like the Galaxy Z Fold 3, the Huawei P50 Pocket features a fingerprint scanner on the side, and face unlock is supported by both the primary camera and the selfie camera. The device runs on the company’s own Harmony OS, without Google Play services.
