Huawei p50 pocket: Huawei has a ‘pocket phone’ coming – Times of India

Huawei has been among the forerunners when it comes to foldable smartphones. The company competed with Samsung in this particular smartphone segment and has launched three foldable smartphones to date– The Huawei Mate X, Mate Xs and the Mate X2–of which Mate X2 came out in February. Now, the company is planning to unveil its next smartphone called the P50 Pocket that has design similarities with the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip phones. The device appeared in Harper’s Bazaar China as part of a shoot.
The phone variant that’s appeared in the magazine has a golden hue, with a leafy pattern on the outer body and features an external circular display that shows the time, notifications etc.. Right next to the display is the camera bump, which is also enclosed in a circular design for symmetry. So, when the phone is flipped shut, there are two circular spaces at the outer side of the body. The circular display will also show the scene you are trying to capture with the camera when the foldable phone is flipped shut, as per a report by Engadget.
As per Huawei’s official teaser of the device in a tweet, it looks like it’s also getting a silver variant.

The P50 Pocket foldable phone’s fingerprint reader will be located along the edges of the device, as per a report by Engadget Chinese. Huawei is all set to launch the phone on December 23.
It seems like the foldable phone segment could see renewed interest by buyers as we will have two foldable phones, the Oppo Find N and the P50 Pocket, in the market. The Oppo Find N is the first attempt at a foldable device by the Chinese company and has already been launched. It remains to be seen if Huawei wants to bring its new foldable product to India.
