“I can’t do this Anymore”- Ukrainian Esports Pro S1mple Calls for Peace Amidst Russia’s Incursion into Ukraine
The Russian incursion into Ukraine seems to have escalated beyond imagination as the Russian military has started its advance into the country. There have been multiple reports and updates of shelling and missiles being launched since it began and it is only escalating.
While the world watches in utter disbelief, on person from the epsorts and gaming world is experiencing this terrible occurrence up close. S1mple, who is a CS: GO pro for Ukrainian organization Natus Vincere, is currently in Ukraine, right in the middle of the conflict.
Since the incursion began, he has tweeted two updates about the same and is clearly horrified by what is happening in his country. Roughly translated, he wrote “Please, please, stop, I can’t do this anymore, we all need peace.” as Russia advanced into his homeland.
Пожалуйста, прошу вас, хватит, я так уже не могу, нам всем нужен мир

In another update, he actually tweeted that his city was being shelled. One can only imagine what he is going through right now. To lend him some moral support, the gaming community also rallied in support and prayed for his safety. Fellow CS: GO player “FalleN” also lent him support as he said “So sad. My prayers to everyone involved”
As the Ukraine-Russia crisis has far-reaching effects on the markets and economies across Europe, its effects will also be felt in the esports and gaming sector across Europe. It won’t be a surprise if a lot of the esports tournaments are cancelled or postponed considering the sheer magnitude of what is happening in Ukraine.
The effects of this incursion will be far reaching and only time will tell what happens next.
