ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 India vs Pakistan match date and previous records

The ICC has released the schedule for the Men’s Cricket ODI World Cup 2023. India will host arch rival Pakistan for the first time in seven years for the 50-over World Cup and the much-anticipated India-Pakistan clash is scheduled for October 15 in Ahmedabad. The final will also be played in Ahmedabad on November 19. In the tournament opener, defending champions England taken on New Zealand on October 5, also in the same venue.

The October 13 face-off between India and Pakistan will be the eighth meeting between the two sides at a men’s World Cup.

India and Pakistan squared off seven times previously at the ODI World Cup – in 1992, 1996, 1999, 2003, 2011, 2015 and 2019. India won all of the previous seven encounters.

In 2007 World Cup in West Indies, both India and Pakistan had both failed to make it to the group stage after crashing out of the tournament in the opening round.

In the 1992 edition of the world cup match against Pakistan, played in Sydney, Sachin Tendulkar was the man of the match as he starred with both the bat and ball. India scored 216/7 in 49 overs while Pakistan were skittled out for 173.In the 1996 India-Pakistan World Cup encounter played at Bangalore, Navjot Sidhu was awarded the man of the match for his knock of 93, off 115 balls. India won the match by 39 runs.

In the 1999 India-Pakistan encounter, played at Manchester, Venkatesh Prasad was awarded the man of the match for his bowling performance of 5/27, a match India won by 47 runs.

Batting legend Sachin Tendulkar was the man of the match in the 2003 India-Pakistan World Cup encounter at Centurion, South Africa. India won the match by 6 wickets as Sachin Tendulkar scored 98 off just 75 balls.

In the 2015 ICC Cricket World Cup match between India and Pakistan, Virat Kohli was the man of the match as he had scored 107, off 126 balls. India won the match by 76 runs.
