In a first, Apple iOS 17 drops support for three iPhones – Times of India

Apple’s iPhones will get the new features with the iOS 17 this fall. But there are some iPhones that will not get the new update, as Apple drops the compatibility for some of the older-generation models from 2017.
If you own an iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, or iPhone X, unfortunately, you won’t be able to update to the latest iOS 17. Your iPhone must have an A12 Bionic or later chip to be compatible with the new operating system.
Here’s the complete list of iPhones that will support iOS 17, and if you have any one of them, you will have access to new features such as Live Voicemail transcripts, StandBy display mode, and an improved autocorrect.

The latest version of its phone-focused mobile operating system is set to be released this autumn. Not much is changed though iOS 17 has a range of small improvements that could be very useful.
The new customizable call screen, Contact Posters, allows users to change how calls appear. The new Live Voicemail means that when a number you don’t recognize calls, the phone will display the live scrolling text of what the person is saying. Other features include update SharePlay, which now allows music or video streaming on two devices simultaneously.
There are some updates to Messages, too, including an option to create Stickers and a new safety feature called Check-In. Siri has also been updated, with users no longer needing to say “Hey Siri” to activate the voice assistant. There is also a Standby mode, which essentially turns the iPhone into a smart display.
Developers can access the iOS 17 beta software later today, with a public beta set to launch next month. The official release is anticipated to be available this fall.
