NEW DELHI: In the absence of big names like Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah, the Hardik Pandya-led Team India will take on Ireland in the 2-match T20I series starting Sunday.
It will be the first time Hardik will be captaining India. He was awarded the leadership role after his triumphant run in the IPL with his new side Gujarat Titans, which clinched the title in their first ever appearance in the competition.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar will be Hardik’s deputy in the 2-match series.
While other big names like KL Rahul (injured), Shreyas Iyer and Rishabh Pant also not be featuring in the 2 T20Is, all eyes will be on the likes of Rahul Tripathi, Arshdeep Singh and Umran Malik, who might get a chance to feature in the playing XI and make their India debuts.
National Cricket Academy head and former batting great VVS Laxman and ex-India pacer and current chief selector Chetan Sharma are accompanying the Hardik-led Team India on the tour of Ireland.
