Indian cricketers cheer as Chandrayaan-3 makes historic lunar landing
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) shared a video in which the Indian cricket team celebrated while closely following the updates of the lunar module’s landing, just hours before their final T20I match against Ireland in Dublin.
India now stands as the fourth nation to successfully land a spacecraft on the moon, marking a significant milestone in space exploration, with the distinction of being the first to land on the moon’s south pole.
Cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar commended the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) for this remarkable feat. He said, “@ISRO represents the best of India. Humble, hardworking women & men, coming together, overcoming challenges, and making our tricolour fly high.”
He went on to praise the Chandrayaan-2 and Chandrayaan-3 teams, led by Shri K Sivan and Shri S Somanath, respectively, for their dedication and effort. Tendulkar emphasized, “Every hard landing has lessons which take us closer to a soft landing – on the moon, and in life.”
Star batsman Virat Kohli shared his congratulations with the #Chandrayaan3 team, saying, “You have made the nation proud… Jai Hind!”
Ravichandran Ashwin, a prominent spin bowler, wrote, “History. Congratulations @isro for this extraordinary accomplishment. #JaiHind.”
Former fast bowler Venkatesh Prasad expressed his joy, stating, “We have created History. Congratulations @isro for giving joy to all of us. It is truly a great moment. Bharat Mata ki Jai #Chandrayaan3.”
Former India opener Virender Sehwag added a touch of humor to the celebration, saying, “As we were approaching Sunset, Moon ke South Pole par hum set. What a glorious moment. Just proves, after every setback is a stronger comeback. Some naysayers who want Bharat to fail, some of them living in India as well will have some sleepless nights. #Chandrayaan3.”
The successful landing of Chandrayaan-3 has not only marked a significant achievement in space exploration but has also brought pride and joy to the hearts of Indian cricket legends and fans alike.
