Indian gamers want to make gaming their career: HP India – Times of India
Gamers in the country want to take their hobby beyond just a favourite pass time. According to HP India’s annual gaming landscape 2022 report, several gamers in the country would choose gaming as their career. In the second edition of the report, the company surveyed more than 2000 people across 14 cities in the country, ranging from 18 years to 40 years old, with a gender ratio of 75/20 males to females.
As per the study, two-thirds of the gamers who participated in the study want to explore gaming as their career, either full-time or part-time. The main key driving factor toward this is said to be the possibility of turning their hobby into a career.
Meanwhile, the majority, 92 percent of gamers, also find gaming entertaining and relaxing while also improving their mental agility. 52 percent of gamers believe gaming to be a socialising factor.
Around 98 percent of gamers say that they rely on self-training to improve their skills, and most of them follow a gaming influencer to learn more about gaming. Meanwhile, a mere 2 per cent took professional training to hone their skills.
While the majority look forward to taking gaming ads as their career, some also see becoming an influencer, software developers and animators.
PC gaming still rules
The report says that 68 per cent of the Indian gamers surveyed prefer PC over mobile phones, as PC offers better design, processors, graphics and a more immersive viewing experience.
Though, Some still find gaming on mobile better than on PC. Meanwhile, a small portion of the participants finds gaming equally good on mobiles and PC.
Almost half of the people surveyed want to shift to PCs from mobiles, while others want to upgrade their PCs to better ones.
