Tata Tiago EV price in India, availability

Prices go all the way up to Rs 11.79 lakhs (ex-showroom) for the top-end XZ+ Tech LUX variant with a bigger 24kWh battery pack. It will be available in two battery pack options. The vehicles also get multiple charging options for different needs.

Tata Motors has reserved the prices on the Tata Tiago for the first 10,000 customers and the prices might change after the allotted stock is exhausted. It is also good to note that Tata will reserve 2,000 of the 10,000 units for existing customers of the Nexon EV.

While exact details on the paint shades are not available yet, the basic colour palette comprises multiple colour options that would include Intensi Teal, Silver, Blue Red and more. Tata will offer an 8-year / 1.6 lakh kilometre warranty on the battery and motor.

Bookings will start on October 10th while deliveries have been estimated to commence sometime in January 2023.

Tata Tiago design, specifications

The Tata Tiago EV is based on the Tata Tiago hatchback that has been on sale in India since 2016. The ICE-powered hatchback now gets an electric powertrain and joins Tata’s successful EV lineup. The Tiago EV is a value-for-money proposition that aims to bring the compact and easy-to-use benefits of a hatchback with a frugal EV powertrain to the masses.

The Tata Tiago EV closely resembles the existing ICE-powered Tata Tiago hatchback. But the design has been refreshed with the inclusion of a blocked-out nose and a redesigned air dam with Tata’s signature Tri-Arrow pattern design. Electric blue accents have also been added to bring it up to speed with other Tata EVs. The Tiago EV retains a black contrasting roof, blacked-out ORVMs, door handles and rear spoiler elements and thus maintains a sporty stance. The wheels too have been updated with new highlight elements on the wind tunnel tested aerodynamic design.

The Tata Tiago EV will be equipped with Tata’s Ziptron technology and will get two battery pack options. The smaller battery pack is rated at 19.4kWh while the larger battery pack measures 24kWh. The 19.4kWh battery pack equipped Tata Tiago EV is expected to deliver a range of 250km of the estimated MIDC test cycle range. The larger battery pack is good for 315km of range as per MIDC. The Tiago EV powertrain (battery and motor) is IP67 certified and comes with an 8-year/1.6 lakh kilometre warranty.

According to Tata, the Tiago EV despite running on a frugal and reliable Ziptron powertrain manages to go from a standstill to 60kmph in just 5.7 seconds. The Tiago EV also gets four charging options – a 15A household socket, a 3.3kW AC home charger, a 7.2kWh AC home charger, and a DC fast charger. The 7.2kW fast charger allows the Tiago EV to fully charge in just 3 hours 36 minutes while a DC charger can juice it up from 10 to 80 percent in just 57 mins.

In terms of features, the Tata Tiago EV has been loaded with multi-level regenerative braking, cruise control and sports mode as we had anticipated earlier. Tata will also include premium features such as white leatherette perforated seats, auto climate control, rain-sensing wipers, auto headlamps, power windows, cooled glove box, push button start stop, rear wash wipes and defogger, fog lamps, LED DRLs, projector headlamps, digital instrument cluster, a Harman sourced touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay and an 8 speaker system.

The Tiago EV also gets a segment-first connected car technology with Tata’s ZConect technology that allows remote AC control, vehicle tracking and geofencing, charging station locator, drive data analytics and more. Tata will also offer a smartwatch integration. The Tiago EV is based on a 4-star rated platform and gets airbags, ABS, EBD, rear parking camera and sensors.
