Instagram Down: Instagram is down for thousands of users: Report – Times of India

Meta-owned platform Instagram is not working for thousands of users. According to a report by outage tracking website Downdetector, more than 52,000 users are facing issues with the app and desktop version of Instagram.

As per Downdetector, the outage is global and about 50% users are facing issues with the app, while 29% and 21% users are having trouble with the server connection and login. The reason behind the outage is still not known. Users took to Twitter to report about the ongoing outage.

This is the third outage in a month
Instagram has encountered its third outage within a month. The initial incident took place on July 11, affecting all Meta platforms, such as Facebook and WhatsApp. Following that, on July 20, Instagram experienced a second outage, impacting users worldwide. Despite these recurrent outages, the company has not issued any official statement to address the situation.
Instagram launched Twitter rival Threads
Earlier this month, Instagram launched a new Threads app which will compete against the micro-blogging platform — Twitter. Threads, an independent Instagram application, bears resemblances to Twitter, a text-based social media platform, while also incorporating certain features from Instagram. However, it stands as a distinct and new platform in its own right.
According to Meta, Threads serves as a distinct platform designed for public conversations and real-time updates. Within Threads, users can create text posts and share photos and videos. Additionally, the platform offers features such as liking, commenting, reposting (akin to retweeting), and sharing content.
