Instagram Notes: Now share song clips on Instagram Notes, and translate Notes’ – Times of India

Instagram Notes, introduced in December last year, has some new features. Until now, users could only leave status messages for their mutuals or close friends at the top of their inboxes. Now, Notes will also support music and translations with the latest update.
Previously, users were limited to text and emoji when creating their Notes. However, they can now share a 30-second clip of a song to express themselves further. This new feature, Music in Notes, allows people to share their current moods, and feelings, with their favourite songs. Users can also include a caption to share their thoughts and the clip.
The song clips will be available in all markets worldwide where Instagram has obtained music licensing rights.
The second new feature in today’s update is Notes Translations. With this feature, users can easily translate notes in a different language by clicking on the “See translation.” Instagram already supports translations in other parts of the app, such as post descriptions, comments, and Reels, and now Notes, too.
Meta says that it found out during the testing that users enjoyed starting casual conversations with friends, thus the Notes. Instagram Notes encourages users to “Share a thought” like Twitter’s “What’s happening?” prompt. Users can write a Note of up to 60 characters with text or emoji visible at the top of their friends’ inboxes for 24 hours.
According to Meta, lots of teenagers are using Notes. Over 100 million teen accounts have posted a note in the past three months.
Asides from the Notes feature, Meta has also been working on a decentralised Twitter alternative, Project P92, a social network for sharing text-based updates, which you could consider an extension of Notes’.
Recently, there were leaked images of Instagram’s upcoming app that looks similar to Twitter. Meta employees also got a sneak peek at the app, which is intended to be their version of Twitter. According to an internal document, the app will have text posts with replies and threads, similar to Twitter.
