Instagram testing Notes: How the new ‘disappearing messages’ feature will work – Times of India
Instagram has started testing yet another new feature with a select number of users. It allows users to share disappearing content on the platform. The new feature in question here is called Notes and as the name implies, it lets users post quick notes to their close friends, followers, etc.
The feature was first spotted by marketer Ahmed Ghanem and as per a report, the Notes feature on Instagram works more like a disappearing message that automatically disappears after 24 hours. These Notes will appear in the app’s direct messaging section as a new row above the messages. The Notes that are shared also contain a ‘+’ button which allows other users to make additions to them that can be seen by all the message is shared with.
The report further adds that Notes is limited to 60 characters and users don’t have any notifications set to them. However, users will be able to reply to the shared Notes as a message.
While the idea of leaving a Note is not new, it can come in handy in situations when you don’t want an important message to get lost in between an ongoing conversation.
This is important to note that the feature is currently being tested by Instagram with a limited set of users. So far there’s no information as to when it will arrive on the final version of the app.
