“Investments in Android and Google Play helped Indian developers create jobs,” says Google

The company emphasized its strong dedication to fostering the growth of India’s app ecosystem over the past ten years. Google highlighted the mutually beneficial nature of its approach, as its profitability is directly tied to the success of developers, given that the platform generates revenue only when developers do.

According to Google, Android provides developers with numerous options for app distribution to reach users. The company noted that most Android devices come preloaded with two or more app stores, and users also have the ability to install additional app stores of their choice.

Google said, “In India, many consumers get their apps from a combination of app stores and other methods such as sideloading, so our incentive is to continually provide the best platform, tools, and resources to compete in the market and enable developer businesses to thrive.”

The American technology giant claims to have developed and currently operates the world’s most extensive malware scanning system, which conducts daily analysis of over 125 billion apps. This system ensures the safety and security of users, offering them a protected and trustworthy experience. 

With a presence in 190 markets, Google has achieved a monthly active user base of 2.5 billion. The company has continuously worked on enhancing their apps by conducting experiments, beta testing new features, optimizing store listings, and analyzing performance, among other efforts.

In the blog post, Google mentioned that it has effectively monetized its apps and in-app content in over 180 global markets through its commerce platform. This platform offers convenient and secure access to local payment options such as UPI and recharge codes, along with monetization tools. 

Google acknowledged that developers in India and other parts of the world have recognized the significant value provided by Google Play, as it has become an instrumental tool for building and expanding their businesses. Google emphasized that its investments in Android and Google Play rely on the sustainability of its service fee model, which has been crucial to supporting these endeavors.
