iPadOS 16.1 – What’s new for iPads
The Stage Manager will be available for M1 and M2-based iPads and Macs. The feature has been extended to selected older iPad models, including the 11-inch iPad Pro and the 12.9-inch iPad Pro (third generation and later). However, these iPads will not get external display support.
The iPadOS 16.1 will also bring desktop-class apps to the iPads, with a new Weather app, Messages, and more.

In addition to the Stage Manager, macOS Ventura itnroduces a new continuity feature – Continuity Camera – allowing users to use their iPhone’s camera for FaceTime calls on Macs. Further, the Messages app on Mac will get similar abilities as the iPhone, including edit and undo, and the Mail app also brings the ability to unsend emails. Among other changes, the System Preferences has been renamed to Settings, having a new design.
For the first time in years, Apple had to break the tradition of releasing new software for iPhones and iPads, as the iPadOS 16 got delayed. However, the release schedule might get in sync, as rumors suggest that iOS 16.1 will roll out on October 24.
