Iphone: OLED iPhone displays can now be fixed with this new laser technology, here’s how – Times of India

Fixing OLED panels in iPhonesis one of the most common repairs among customers. New technology has emerged that will address screen issues in a new way. With this technology, OLED panels in iPhones can be fixed using a laser. This new process also claims to help users by reducing costs. This technology doesn’t even require disassembling the iPhones to repair OLED screens.According to a report by AppleInsider, the process will get cheaper as it becomes more common.
How this new technology will work
A YouTuber named Strange Parts has shared a video to explain how this technology will work. Traces in OLED panels are tiny pathways that carry electrical signals across the display. Visible lines or other display issues appear on the screen when these traces are damaged. To mend any broken traces within the display, the machine uses a laser. The video also notes that the same laser used in manufacturing the panels is being used to mend these broken traces.
The unique feature of this machine is that it can repair the screen while it’s still on. This helps the operator to visually track the repair process and instantly recognise when the issue has been fixed.

The flex, which is attached to the front of the screen can also be adjusted with this machine by bending to the other side as needed. This new technology will address each trace until the line on the screen disappears.
According to the report, this technology has the potential to revolutionize the screen refurbishing industry. It can fix screens that were previously unrepairable, saving users from having to buy new smartphones.
However, it is important to note that this technology will not be able to repair iPhone screens that have been physically damaged with cracks or scratches. The repair process will apply only to OLED panels that are usually fused to the glass.
