The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 auction on Saturday was disrupted in Bengaluru as auctioneer Hugh Edmeades collapsed during the 2nd session. The auctioneer fell face first as franchise owners and support staff called for medical attention at the auction room.
Franchise owners were shocked as Hugh Edmeades fell on the ground while he was auctioning Sri Lanka’s Wanindu Hasaranga. There was an intense bidding war for the Sri Lankan spinner and Edmeades was making sure the franchises broke their bank. When the bid was over Rs 10 crore for Hasaranga, who base price of Rs 1 crore, Edmeades collapsed on the floor from the stage.
Edmeades, according to ESPN, suffered low blood pressure before collapsing at the auction room.

EDMEADES GIVEN MEDICAL ASSISTANCE, DOING FINE
As it turns out, Edmeades is fine but was a bit shaken after falling from a height at the IPL 2022 auction room. He was given medical assistance. The auction was set to resume at 3:30 pm IST after early lunch was taken.
Official broadcasters Star Sports also confirmed that Edmeades is doing okay after taking the fall on Saturday.
“Very relieved to see the auctioneer get up and walk out with support from the bcci folks around. That was a scary moment, hope he’s fine,” RCB content head Ajith Ramamurthy said in a social media post.

There was plenty of action at the IPL 2022 mega auction on Saturday as Shreyas Iyer emerged as the costliest player among the 10 marquee players, selling to Kolkata Knight Riders for Rs 12.25 crore.
India fast bowler Harshal Patel sold to Royal Challengers Bangalore for Rs 10.75 crore while the likes of Suresh Raina, Steve Smith and David Miller went unsold on Day 1.
