Gujarat were in a spot of bother at 78/4 after 11. 5 overs, having lost captain Hardik Pandya as well as Matthew Wade and Shubman Gill as they chased 159 for victory. Miller and Tewatia, however, were equal to the task. Youngster Abhinav also got into the act with some lusty blows towards the end to put icing on Gujarat’s cake.

Earlier, Titans’ pacer Mohammad Shami took the wicket of LSG skipper KL Rahul off the very first ball of the game. Shami went on to wreck the backbone of LSG top and middle-order by bagging three wickets in as many overs.
Tottering at 29 for four in the fifth over, LSG found their own heroes. Responsible half-centuries by Deepak Hooda (55) and Ayush Badoni (54) guided the team to a respectable 158/6 in 20 overs.
A lethal out-swinger from Shami greeted LSG captain Rahul who could only edge it to wicket-keeper Mathew Wade. The on-field decision of not out was overturned by the TV umpire on review. Rahul’s partner Quinton de Kock’s (7) middle stump was pegged back by Shami after he received a length ball, which was pitched in between full and good length.
Another Titan, Shubman Gill marked his presence in the match, not with the bat but with a superb running catch. Stationed at mid-wicket, Gill ran back 15-20 yards to grab a miscued pull by Evin Lewis (10) off Varun Aaron’s bowling to leave Super Giants tottering at 20/3.
At the other end, Shami continued to hit unhittable lengths and bowled Manish Pandey (6) with a ball that seamed in to knock off the top of the off-stump. The flurry of wickets meant Hooda and Badoni had to go for a rebuilding job. From 29/4, they took the Super Giants to 47/4 in 10 overs, before cutting loose. The duo smashed 62 runs, clobbering seven boundaries and three sixes, from the next five overs to take LSG to 109-4 in 15 overs.
The 87-run fifth-wicket partnership steadied the LSG ship before leg-spinner Rashid Khan, who was hit for two sixes, trapped Hooda in front of the stumps.

Hooda, who clobbered two sixes and six boundaries in his 55-run knock, missed a sweep shot off a length ball that pitched on middle stump. Badoni then joined forces with Krunal Pandya to take 15 of Shami’s last over. The Delhi batter then hit a six towards mid-wicket to bring up his fifty off New Zealand pacer Lockie Ferguson.
Shami was the pick of the bowlers for Titans’ with 25/3 off four overs.
