IPL 2022: Shreyas Iyer could be potential captain for KKR or RCB, says Aakash Chopra

Aakash Chopra believes that Shreyas Iyer will be the most expensive player in the upcoming mega-auction and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) or Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) could pick him for the leadership role in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022.

Ravichandran Ashwin, Trent Boult, Pat Cummins, Quinton de Kock, Shikhar Dhawan, Faf du Plessis, Iyer, Kagiso Rabada, Mohammed Shami, and David Warner are the players who are enlisted in the marquee set of the upcoming 2022 IPL mega auction.

Notably, Iyer had missed the first part of IPL 2021 in India due to a shoulder injury, so the team’s captaincy was handed over to Rishabh Pant, who led the side for the entire season even after Iyer came back.

“Shreyas Iyer could be a potential captain of KKR or RCB. I don’t think Punjab would be looking at him,” Aakash Chopra said on his official YouTube channel.

“The most expensive player, to be very honest, is going to be Shreyas Iyer. In this list, the most expensive will be Iyer because Ishan Kishan is not there. If Ishan was there, there could’ve been a tug of war. Now, they will reserve money for Ishan and money will be splashed out for Iyer,” Chopra added.

Chopra also added that Rabada, de Kock and Warner will be the most expensive overseas players from the marquee list in the upcoming auction.

“The three most expensive overseas players will be Rabada, and then one of Quinton de Kock or David Warner will be the most expensive overseas player as well. There’s a good possibility.”
