IPL 2022: Taking the match to the last over amid dew a great effort, says Rajasthan skipper Sanju Samson after loss against RCB | Cricket News – Times of India

MUMBAI: Rajasthan Royals’ (RR) skipper Sanju Samson expressed disappointment after his side lost against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) clash on Tuesday.
Brilliant display of batting by Dinesh Karthik (44* off 23 balls ) and Shahbaz Ahmed (45* off 26) helped RCB beat RR by four wickets at the Wankhede Stadium here on Tuesday.
“I can’t point out one moment where we lost the game. I thought it was a great effort to put up that total on such a slow wicket after losing the toss. Jos (Buttler) and (Shimron) Hetmyer batted brilliantly at the death. Taking the match to the last over with the dew coming in was a great effort as well,” said Sanju Samson in a post-match presentation.

RR opener Buttler scored an unbeaten 47-ball 70, while Hetmyer contributed 42* off 31 balls to take the team’s final total to 169 for 3.
On whether he requested the umpires to change the ball because of the dew, Samson said: “No I didn’t. I was confident about my bowlers. DK (Karthik) is someone with a lot of experience. We just need to take our time to set the field. Lot of positives to take out of this loss, and we can learn a lot of things as well,” he added.
Chasing 170, RCB had a decent start with openers Faf du Plessis (29) and Anuj Rawat (26) stitching a 50-run partnership in six overs. Yuzvendra Chahal (2 for 15) dismissed du Plessis in the next over with RCB’s total at 55 for 1.

Rawat departed in the very next over, caught by Samson off Navdeep Saini (1 for 36) with only 61 runs on the board.
In the the 9th over, RCB lost Virat Kohli (5), who was run out, and David Willey (0), who was bowled by Chahal.
Sherfane Rutherford and Shahbaz came to the crease and tried to anchor the innings for some time. Rutherford (5) was dismissed by Saini in the 13th over, with RCB’s score reading 87 for 5.

Shahbaz was then joined by Karthik, and the duo brought RCB’s chase back on track. They thrashed the RR bowlers en route a 50-run partnership.
Shahbaz was bowled by Trent Boult (2 for 34), but Harshal Patel (9* off 4 balls) stood his ground as Karthik took RCB home.
