IPL 2023 RCB vs GT: Kohli hits century, Challengers score 197 runs

Facing the defending champions Gujarat Titans in the last match of the league match of the Indian Premier League, Royal Challengers Bangalore on 21 May scored 197 runs in 20 overs after losing 5 wickets.

After being asked to bat first by GT skipper Hardik Pandya at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, the RCB skipper Faf du Plessis was firm to make sure the team wins by a good margin.

Looking at the IPL points table, this is a must win match for RCB for them to qualify for the play-offs. In the previous match of day, Mumbai Indians defeated the Sunrisers Hyderabad by 8 wickets, inching the team forward to qualify as the fourth team.

Gujarat Titans, Chennai Super Kings and Lucknow Super Giants have already qualified for the play-offs.

RCB Innings:

With a hope of qualifying in the play-offs, RCB openers Virat Kohli and skipper Faf du Plessis were batting with pace from the very beginning.

Though Noor Ahmad picked up the wicket of du Plessis (28) in the 8th over. Glen Maxwell (11) too departed by Rashid Khan in the 9th over. Following this, Mahipal Lomror went back to pavilion as Noor Ahmad sent him off in the 10th over.

After this, RCB sent Michael Bracewell to set a partnership with Virat, and Barcewell scored 26 runs, before being sent off by Mohammed Shami in the 14th over.

With Dinesh Kartik entered the pitch, there was a hope of a big score, by the was sent off on the very first ball by Yash Dayal.

However, Kohli remained on the pitch and kept scoring like a machine gun. He completed his second century in the Tata IPL 2023 and scored 101 runs. But the end of 20 overs, RCB scored a whopping 197 runs by losing 5 wickets.

For GT, Noor Ahmad took two wickets, while Mohammed Shami, Yash Dayal and Rashid Khan picked one wicket each.
