IPL final at Narendra Modi Stadium makes Guinness record for largest attendance in T20 match | Cricket News – Times of India

MUMBAI: The IPL 2022 final on May 29 between Gujarat Titans and Rajasthan Royals at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad has received the Guinness world record for the largest attendance at a T20 match, BCCI secretary Jay Shah tweeted on Sunday.
“Extremely delighted & proud to receive the Guinness World Record for the largest attendance at a T20 match when 101,566 people witnessed the epic @IPL final at @GCAMotera’s magnificent Narendra Modi Stadium on 29 May 2022. A big thanks to our fans for making this possible! @BCCI,” Shah wrote on Twitter.

“A proud moment for everyone as India creates the Guinness World Record. This one is for all our fans for their unmatched passion and unwavering support. Congratulations to @GCAMotera and @IPL,” tweeted the BCCI.
Playing in the IPL for the first time, the newly-launched Gujarat Titans had won their maiden IPL title that day, beating the Royals by seven wickets in the summit clash.
The gigantic Narendra Modi Stadium is likely to host a day/night Test match between India and Australia in February-March.
