Is Josh Jacobs playing on Monday night? Fantasy injury update for Raiders-Chargers

Josh Jacobs has been banged up all season, and after missing the past two games, he’s “questionable” for the Raiders “Monday Night Football” matchup against the Chargers. Fantasy football owners obviously need to know the latest updates on Jacobs’ injury status before they figure out who to start in Week 4, and given that he plays the last game of the week, it’s tough to know whether you should hold out for him or find a backup for your flex spot.

We’ll continue to update this post with news on Jacobs up until the active/inactive report comes out on Monday around 6:45 p.m. ET. For all the latest fantasy updates, follow us on Twitter @SN_Fantasy.

Is Josh Jacobs playing on Monday night?

Jacobs (toe, ankle) got in limited practices all week and, despite being “questionable,” looks on track to play on Monday night against the Chargers. If he’s active, it would be his first time on the field since scoring two TDs in Week 1.

WEEK 4 STANDARD RANKINGS:
Quarterback | Running back | Wide receiver | Tight end | D/ST | Kicker

Jacobs wasn’t particularly good that game (10 carries, 34 rushing yards), but he was limited in practice leading up to that contest, too. The good news is he did get the bulk of the carries for Vegas, as Kenyan Drake managed just six rushes.

WEEK 4 PPR RANKINGS:
Quarterback | Running back | Wide receiver | Tight end | D/ST | Kicker

We’re yet to see Jacobs fully healthy this year, and even though he’s unlikely to be at 100 percent on Monday, he’s still going to be the Raiders’ primary ball carrier when healthy. He’s worth starting as an RB2 against a Chargers’ defense that’s had all kinds of problems with RBs this year (seventh most fantasy points allowed). Peyton Barber had a huge game as the starter last week, and while he’s still likely to still get some touches, he’ll be mostly relegated to the bench if Jacobs plays. Drake will continue his passing-down work.

If Jacobs is out, Barber is in play as an RB2 in standard leagues and high-end flex in PPR. Drake would be a flex in PPR.
