Sourav Ganguly may have stepped aside from cricket administration for now but his close associate and joint secretary of the board in previous tenure, Jayesh George, is set to take charge as president of the Kerala Cricket Association yet again.
Tuesday was the last date for the withdrawal of nominations for elections to KCA and a panel under Jayesh was also unanimously elected to the apex council as no other nominations were filed against them.
Thiruvananthapuram District Cricket Association secretary Vinod S Kumar will replace Sreejith V Nair as the new secretary of KCA as the latter will have to go into a cooling-off period as mandated by the Supreme Court. Vinod has been a key figure in organising the domestic and international matches that were held in the state in the recent past.
Another induction into KCA is that of Binesh Kodiyeri, who will be the new joint secretary. Binesh is a representative of Kannur District Cricket Association and son of former CPI(M) secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan.
E Chandrasekharan from Palakkad will be the new vice-president. KM Abdul Rahman from Kasaragod will be the only member to retain his place from KCA’s previous regime and he will continue in his role as treasurer.
K Satheesh from Thrissur will be the other member of the apex council in KCA.
Jayesh and Sreejith will be the two representatives of KCA in the BCCI.
The formal induction of the new office-bearers will be held at the KCA AGM to be held in Thiruvananthapuram on Tuesday.
