Jeff Grubb Confirms Juicy Plot Details About the Animated Mario Movie
Mario fans were dealt with a major blow earlier this week, when the animated movie involving the popular Italian plumber was delayed to release from December 2022 to April 2023.
With Illumination Entertainment helming the project, fans are quite intrigued about the iconic Nintendo character coming to life through the voice of Hollywood star Chris Pratt. Along with him, actors like Anya Taylor-Joy, Charlie Day, Jack Black and Seth Rogen will also be part of the cast as they play Princess Peach, Luigi, Bowser and Donkey Kong, respectively.
As of right now, fans have yet to see a trailer, poster or any official information about the movie from the studio or its star cast. However, gaming industry insider Jeff Grub recently confirmed some of the film’s contents, which showed up on a Reddit post.
Grubb talked about the Reddit post, which was recently DMCA’d by the platform in The Giant Bomb podcast. The post included details like the movie having a cartoon artstyle similar to that of Hotel Transylvania. Along with that, the humor is said to feature a lot of puns, and not a lot of dabbing and fart jokes.
Both the Italian plumbers in Luigi and Mario will have some redesigns, which include their accents, as both Charlie Day and Chris Pratt will voice with them in a Brooklyn accent. Moreover, the character designs will be a bit different at the start, and as the movie progresses, they will eventually wear their iconic overalls.
The plot involves the classic storyline of Princess Peach being abducted by Bowser, with Mario and Luigi hatching a plan to save her. The movie will heavily rely on many songs, with one of them revolving around plumbing, and it seems like the animated film will most likely be a musical, which no one saw coming.
In the end, it seems like Nintendo and Illumination will be pulling on every fan’s heart strings with this adaptation, and April 2023 couldn’t come sooner for the Mario fanatics.
