Jio Cinema apologizes for the awful glitch-ridden streaming of the FIFA World Cup 2022: Promises to improve experience – Smartprix

The FIFA World Cup 2022 kicked off in Qatar recently but for the Indian viewers, the opening day of the football extravaganza was a frustrating experience. All thanks to Reliance Jio whose online streaming service Jio Cinema made the viewing experience awful due to lags and frequent glitches.

This time, Reliance Jio’s online platform Jio Cinema is streaming FIFA 2022 online in India and it is providing access for free. This made the fans happy at first but the buffers and glitches during the actual live streaming left the fans miffed.

Jio Cinema also faced a huge backlash from fans who accused it of spoiling the experience for the viewers. After a huge uproar, Jio Cinema apologized by tweeting a meme from TikTok which said, “We are continuously working to give you a great experience. Please upgrade your app to the latest version to enjoy #FIFAWorldCupQatar2022. Apologies for the inconvenience.”

The live streaming of the 1st match between Qatar and Ecuador was full of lags. Users posted screenshots on Twitter that showed the app buffering the live stream before an important goal and resuming after the goal was scored. Many such instances were posted by the users.

Jio Cinema is offering live streaming only on mobile and TV apps, so if you do not have a television and wanted to enjoy the live stream on a laptop, then it will be a problem. Voot, was earlier supposed to stream the FIFA World Cup 2022, but it backed out after showing teasers for weeks. Many users who had purchased Voot for FIFA World Cup felt cheated as the platform removed the tournament.
