“JioCinema continues to grow from strength to strength every week and it is based on clear evidence of consumer’s outright preference of catching the TATA IPL on digital,” said Viacom18 Sports CEO Anil Jayaraj.
According to the company, TATA IPL 2023 on connected TV reached twice the number of viewers than that on HD TV.
“The combination of outstanding cricket action and our robust platform proved the stellar opening weekend was just the beginning of bigger things to come. I would like to thank all our sponsors, advertisers, and partners for showing faith in our journey as we continue to elevate every fan’s TATA IPL viewing experience,” Jayaraj added.
JioCinema peak viewing moments
JioCinema reached peak viewing during the Royal Challengers Bangalore vs Chennai Super Kings fixture, wherein 2.4 crore viewers watched the last over of the second innings of the match when RCB needed 17 runs in 6 balls.
On April 12, JioCinema crossed 22.3 million (2.23 crore) concurrent viewers mark during the Chennai Super Kings vs Rajasthan Royals match.
IPL 2023 in different languages
IPL 2023 commentary is available in multiple languages, including Bhojpuri, Punjabi, Marathi, and Gujarati. The JioCinema app also has a 360-degree viewing feature for immersive fan engagement on digital. There are digital-only features like multi-cam, 4K and Hype Mode.
HBO content on JioCinema
Last month, Reliance’s Viacom18 struck a deal with Warner Bros Discovery for its streaming platform JioCinema to bring HBO’s famous shows, including Game of Thrones and the recently launched Last of US, from Disney Hotstar in India. The deal will see Warner Bros and its HBO content becoming available on the JioCinema app.
