JioCinema viewership in CSK vs GT IPL 2023 final touches record 3.2 crore
IPL 2023 viewership
JioCinema announced on Twitter that it recorded 3.2 crore concurrent viewers during the final match between Chennai Super Kings and Gujarat Titans. This was during the time Sai Sudharsan was batting for GT. JioCinema broke its own record of the highest viewership which was 2.5 crore during the match between CSK and GT on May 23.
The streaming service has been witnessing peak viewership as it said it registered over 1,500 crore views within the first seven weeks of IPL. This is the first time that IPL was streamed on JioCinema after Viacom18 bagged digital streaming rights for IPL last year. IPL was previously streamed on Disney+ Hotstar. Also, IPL on JioCinema was free to watch unlike Disney+ Hotstar which charged users.
The latest feat comes amid JioCinema’s quickly growing trajectory as one of the top streaming services in India. IPL itself was a big win for JioCinema but it also has been pushing its content portfolio with some major deals. One of the biggest is Viacom18’s exclusive deal with Warner Bros. Discovery for popular shows such as Game of Thrones, House of The Dragon, Succession and The Last of Us. It also just signed a multi-year partnership with NBCUniversal for more shows such as The Office and Parks and Recreation.
JioCinema which continues to be free for Jio users also offers paid content now with subscription. Priced at Rs 999 annually, JioCinema Premium offers Hollywood content including the shows mentioned above.
