Jonathan Majors Gets August Trial Date After Appearing in Court for First Time

Jonathan Majors will go to trial on August 3 on domestic violence charges, the actor learned after appearing in court for the first time on Tuesday.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Majors appeared in New York criminal court on June 20 to hear the misdemeanour charges of assault and harassment against him and to have the August 3 trial date set.

Majors was arrested on March 25 under charges of strangulation, assault, and harassment after a domestic dispute with a 30-year-old woman. The NYPD told IGN the victim suffered minor injuries to her head and neck and was taken to hospital in a stable condition.

Majors’ criminal defense attorney, Priya Chaudhry, quickly denied these charges in a statement to IGN, claiming the actor is “completely innocent and is provably the victim of an altercation with a woman he knows”. Chaudhry added they were in the process of “gathering and presenting evidence to the District Attorney with the expectation that all charges will be dropped imminently”.

Variety reported in April that more alleged abuse victims had come forward and were cooperating with the Manhattan district attorney’s office, around the same time Majors was dropped by his talent manager Entertainment 360 and PR firm The Lede Company.

Majors recently starred in Creed 3, and the actor is playing Kang the Conqueror in the MCU. He has made appearances in Loki Season 1, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, and has already filmed Loki’s second season. Disney and Marvel have yet to comment on the allegations.
