Jose Mourinho could raid Man Utd and Chelsea for six stars at PSG

Jose Mourinho is reportedly moving closer to the PSG job with the Ligue 1 champions set to fire current boss Christophe Galtier at the end of the season. The 60-year-old may look to former clubs Manchester United and Chelsea to conduct his transfer business should he be given the role. Here Express Sport takes a speculatory look at who he could target if the eventuality arose…

Hakim Ziyech

While Ziyech is not a player who has played under Mourinho before, he was on the verge of signing for PSG on transfer deadline day earlier this year before the move fell through.

With the same directors still at the club, it is a deal that PSG may look to revive over the summer. Ziyech showed over the World Cup that he is a player who is willing to work hard in both directions for his team, an asset that is likely to be lapped up by Mourinho.

Scott McTominay

It was Mourinho who gave a young McTominay his big break at United and the Scotsman became a regular under his tutelage.

The Portuguese has always enjoyed working with tall, physical midfielders and McTominay fits the bill. The 26-year-old reportedly could be on the move in the summer as Ten Hag looks to bring in new faces and Mourinho can take advantage to bring him to the French capital.

Mason Mount

Mount’s future has been the subject of much speculation in recent months with the midfielder yet to sign a new contract at Stamford Bridge.

Mourinho may be one of the beneficiaries of the situation if he would like to improve PSG’s creative options. Lionel Messi is likely to move on at the end of the season while Neymar could also be on his way out. Mount would offer a high-pressing alternative to the duo bringing a work rate that would be more in tune with Mourinho’s aims.

Anthony Martial

With current United boss Erik ten Hag focusing his efforts on signing a new striker, Martial’s days at Old Trafford could be numbered.

Mourinho was sometimes critical of the Frenchman during his spell in charge but he remains tough to deal with on his day. If PSG were to sign a backup to Kylian Mbappe, Martial could prove to be an intriguing option.

Mateo Kovacic

Kovacic is another player who could be on the move from Stamford Bridge this summer as Todd Boehly looks to sanction player sales to help the club meet FFP regulations.

The Croatian would be an excellent option for the French giants offering a controlling presence in the centre of the park to complement the likes of Marco Verratti.

Victor Lindelof

PSG may need to sign a new centre-half over the summer with Sergio Ramos out of contract at the end of the season.

Lindelof would be a reasonably solid backup to first-choice stars Presnel Kimpembe and Marquinhos. The Swede may be allowed to leave with United said to be keen on adding a new centre-back to the ranks, potentially allowing him to reunite with the man who brought him to Old Trafford in the first place.
