Jose Mourinho ‘wants reunion with former Man Utd favourite’ after embarrassing Bodo Glimt

Jose Mourinho is reportedly keen on a reunion with his former Manchester United defender Victor Lindelof ahead of the January transfer window. The Roma boss is desperate to add some more quality to his ranks after declaring he has no more than 13 capable players in the wake of the embarrassing 6-1 Conference League defeat to Bodo/Glimt.

The Norwegian underdogs dished out a sobering thrashing against the Italians in the Arctic Circle as the travelling Roma fans made their feelings clear at full-time.

Roma will have to recover quickly too as they prepare to host top-of-the-table Napoli at the Stadio Olimpico this weekend.

The Partenopei have won all eight of their Serie A matches this season and will be licking their lips at the prospect of facing Mourinho’s leaky defence.

With the pressure mounting, Mourinho has made it clear that he needs more support from the board in the transfer market if Roma are to compete for trophies.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer still wants to count on the 27-year-old, who remains part of his plans at United.

It means any January deal is likely to prove difficult even if Lindelof’s game time remains limited.

Mourinho may have burned his bridges with Lindelof though when he criticised the centre-back during his punditry days with Sky Sports, claiming the defender can “be bullied” aerially.

The United man took the time to respond to his former manager, claiming it’s a game of opinions.

“For me it has never been a problem, I’m a very easy guy,” he told Sky Sports.

“There is always going to be someone talking or someone else. When you play for this club there is always going to be people criticising you and the way you play.

“For me it has never been a problem, even when I play good there is someone criticising me for something. It’s part of the job, everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

“I’m just trying to do my thing and I don’t focus on those things. I didn’t even notice, or know about it, before you told me. That’s how I live my life and focus on my things.”
