NEW DELHI: The Indian junior women’s hockey team produced an outstanding performance in their last pool match against Chinese Taipei, securing a resounding 11-0 victory and confirming their place in the semi-finals of the Asia Cup in Kakamigahara, Japan on Thursday.
India’s triumph over Chinese Taipei also solidified their position at the top of Pool A. With three wins and one draw in the group stage, the Indian team remained unbeaten throughout.
The goal scorers for India were Vaishnavi Vitthal Phalke (1′), Deepika (3′), Annu (10′, 52′), Rutuja Dadaso Pisal (12′), Neelam (19′), Manju Chorsiya (33′), Sunelita Toppo (43′, 57′), Deepika Soreng (46′), and Mumtaz Khan (55′).
Right from the start, India exhibited their dominance by launching relentless attacks against Chinese Taipei. Vaishnavi opened the scoring with a field goal, followed by Deepika converting a penalty corner to double the team’s lead.

Annu and Rutuja added a goal each before the end of the first quarter, establishing a comfortable 4-0 advantage for India.
The second quarter witnessed India maintaining control of the game through ball possession and relentless attacks. Neelam found the back of the net, allowing India to head into halftime with a commanding 5-0 lead.
India’s dominance continued in the third quarter as Manju and Toppo scored field goals, further extending the team’s lead to 7-0.
In the final quarter, the Indian team displayed unwavering determination. Deepika Soreng, Annu, Mumtaz Khan, and Toppo each contributed a goal, leading to a comprehensive victory with a massive margin.
In the semi-finals, India will face either Japan or Kazakhstan on Saturday, where they will aim to continue their impressive form and secure a spot in the final of the Asia Cup.
