Jurgen Klopp fears Diogo Jota ‘ankle ligament’ injury after Liverpool dressing room scare

Jurgen Klopp fears Diogo Jota may have potentially damaged ankle ligaments in Liverpool’s priceless 2-0 Champions League win at Inter Milan after withdrawing his Portuguese forward the fray at half-time. Although the Reds boss has made it clear Jota could have played on, Liverpool were not willing to take any risks following the dressing room scare at the interval.

Klopp told BT Sport: “I’m really happy apart from obviously Diogo had to go off with something around the ankle ligament.

“We will see, we don’t know exactly but he could play on – which maybe is a good sign – but at half-time it was swollen anyway, so we had to change.

“So apart from that, it’s just another strong performance and I’m really happy about that.”
