Kane ‘has decided to leave Tottenham’ but Man Utd may be trumped by two rivals

Harry Kane has decided that he wants to leave Tottenham this summer, according to reports. Manchester United are sure to be at the front of the queue if a transfer battle unfolds, but the preference of Spurs chairman Daniel Levy could leave the Red Devils helpless.

Kane matched his best-ever tally of league goals for a single campaign by scoring twice against Leeds United on Sunday. The 4-1 scoreline helped send the Whites down to the Championship, while Spurs finished their disappointing season in eighth.

Now 29 years old and fresh from a seriously impressive 30-goal Premier League haul, rumours are intensifying over the England captain pursuing a fresh challenge to try and kick-start his empty silverware cabinet.

According to AS, the striker has ‘already decided to leave Tottenham’ during the summer. The north London club will be unable to offer European football of any description next season, while ongoing uncertainty surrounding their next manager is unlikely to help their cause either.

Man Utd are widely expected to splash out on a striker before the start of next season, and Kane is believed to be at the top of manager Erik ten Hag’s wish list. However, Levy reportedly has reservations about selling Tottenham’s best player to a Premier League rival.

As a result, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich could have an automatic head start in this summer’s transfer pursuit. Like United, Los Blancos are preparing to go big on a striker of their own as Karim Benzema approaches his 36th birthday.

“[Speculation] is part and parcel of being a footballer,” he admitted. “Especially when you are at the top of your game. I am just looking forward to a nice break and some games with England.

“It has been a disappointing season. We can’t let this win dust over that. A lot to work on. We have had to show fight in some moments. A club this size should not be finishing eighth and we need to go away, enjoy a break and look how we can improve.”
