iOS 17 update is set to bring several new features and changes to iPhones. This comes with features like customised contact posters, Live Voicemail, audio and video message feature to FaceTime and more. However, one feature that’s making the headlines is a keyboard bug that the company has fixed with the iOS 17 update.
How Apple will fix this issue
Apple Keyboard usually offers a pretty good autocorrect feature and it also relies on Machine Learning to autocorrect a word which isn’t in the dictionary or unrecognised. This is useful most of the time, however, it had a problem that had the potential to annoy an already annoyed person as it at times autocorrects some words with an entirely different word with no resemblance in terms of meaning.
Until now, Apple keyboard automatically used to autocorrect a curse word that sounds similar to ‘duck’ into ‘duck’.
At the Worldwide Developers Conference, Apple announced a new AI-powered autocorrect feature with iOS 17 that will most likely fix this problem.
As a part of this, Apple’s updated keyboard will learn users typing pattern and suggest autocorrect keywords based on that and will also improve accuracy while detecting the next word and autofill suggestions.
Apple’s head of software, Craig Federighi said that the keyboard relies on a new language model that has the potential to complete the entire sentence based on the context.
That being said, the new Apple keyboard with iOS 17 will also allow users to tap and select the word then want to autocorrect and also replace the automatically replaced word with the previous one. With AI, the keyboard will also learn the users habits to improve the auto correction.
Meanwhile, Apple iOS 17 will be rolled out later this year after the next-generation iPhone launch. However, Apple has started rolling out the iOS 17 developer beta to users.
