Khaps decide to take wrestlers’ fight to President and people | Meerut News – Times of India

MUZAFFARNAGAR: Hundreds of khap leaders gathered at a ‘mahapanchayat’ in Muzaffarnagar’s Sauram village on Thursday in support of the protesting wrestlers. Bharatiya Kisan Union national president Naresh Tikait, who a few days ago met grapplers on the banks of the Ganga in Haridwar and convinced them not to immerse their medals in the river in protest, also addressed the mahapanchayat.
His brother, farmer leader Rakesh Tikait, added, “Many decisions were taken here… Some of them will be disclosed in our Kurukshetra meeting on Friday… The government is trying to divide people. Wrestlers play for the country, they have no caste. They were protesting and the police mistreated them. There is no need to be upset, this fight will be fought across the country.”
