Kia installs India’s first 150kW fast charger

Kia has installed India’s first 150kW fast charger at its official Gurgaon dealership store. The dealership, which goes by the name Dhingra Kia, will host the 150kW fast charger that will enable Kia EV6 owners to charge from 10 to 80 percent in just 42 minutes.

“We started with the ambition of making EV ownership aspirational and launched our global best EV – the Kia EV6 in India, earlier this year. To take things further, we’re now incredibly excited to inaugurate the first DC fast charger for passenger vehicles with a 150 kW charging capacity, playing our role in India’s EV growth story,” said Myung-sik Sohn, Chief Sales Officer, Kia India, on the occasion of the charger’s opening.

The company aims to install a total of 15 such chargers spread across 12 cities in the country at the moment. Better customer experience and reduced range anxiety for customers are what the Korean automaker is focussing on simultaneously, along with the introduction of a global EV.

The Kia EV6 starts at Rs 59.95 lakh (ex-showroom) and gets RWD or AWD, up to 325bhp of peak power, up to 605Nm of peak torque, up to 528km of range and can do the 0-100kmph sprint in 5.2 seconds and maxes out at 192kmph. The vehicle competes with the likes of the BMW i4 currently and will later be pitched against the Hyundai IONIQ 5. It will also compete with Volvo XC40 Recharge when it launches on July 26th.
