KSI teases Conor McGregor ‘super fight’ ahead of double-header in London

KSI teases Conor McGregor ‘super fight’ ahead of double-header in London

YouTuber KSI has admitted that he is eyeing up a potential “super fight” with UFC star Conor McGregor after his bouts with Swarmz and Luis Alcaraz Pineda on Saturday. Ahead of his double-header at the O2 Arena, KSI is lining up future fights with Jake Paul and McGregor.

“My main goal when it comes to boxing is Jake Paul,” KSI told talkSPORT. “To finish Jake Paul off. When I finish Jake Paul, I think I will decide what I want to do then. I might retire, hang up the gloves.

“Or I might decide that I want to do a super-fight with someone like Conor McGregor or someone like that. It’s one of those things where it’s all dependent on who else is there fighting, just whatever makes sense.

“For me right now, my main goal is Jake Paul and Jake Paul only. I am going to be fighting the people I need to fight in order to get closer and closer to Jake Paul. The Jake Paul fight is definitely sometime next year, that is the plan. I want it to be in Wembley. I personally don’t think he is going to be 100 per cent down for that, I think there is going to be a lot of politics and back and forth, negotiations is going to be very, very long.

Whether McGregor would be interested in a potential super-fight with KSI remains to be seen, but the fighter’s manager has confirmed that the Irishman won’t be returning to sport until next year due to injury. McGregor has not fought since his defeat last summer to Dustin Poirier and is set to feature alongside Jake Gyllenhall in the Hollywood remake of the 1989 film Road House.

“A fun little venture then switching back to climbing the mountain again,” McGregor’s manager Tim Simpson told MMA Junkie. “It fits in perfectly. He’s still on track for a big return next year.

“Acting wasn’t something I think Conor had at the very front of his mind, right now he’s still a world-class athlete and his focus is being the best fighter in the world. But as the injury continues to heal and he continues to prepare for a comeback, the timing worked well.”
