Lava Agni 5G OTA update rolled out in India

Airtel and Jio are currently offering 5G services in select cities and plan to finish the pan India availability by March 2024. While Vi (Vodafone Idea) hasn’t mentioned any specific timeline at the moment.

Lava rolls out OTA update to enable 5G

Lava Agni gets an OTA update that enabled the 5G network support on the phone. This will allow customers to enjoy the benefits of the latest network on both Airtel and Jio. For those not following the latest developments, access to 5G is still very limited as the network is available in select cities at the moment.

Airtel 5G Plus is now available in eight cities, including in Hyderabad, Delhi, Varanasi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Siliguri, Nagpur, and Chennai. On the other hand, Jio has announced a 5G ‘Welcome Offer’ where it is offering unlimited 5G data but is limited to only those who received the beta trial invitation. The network is available in Varanasi, Delhi, Mumbai, and Kolkata.

Lava Agni is the brand’s first 5G offering in the country and is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 810 SoC. Speaking on the rollout of the FOTA update, Tejinder Singh, Product Head of Lava International, said, It has always been our aim to provide frequent software updates to our users to enhance the overall experience. Our teams have speedily implemented the FOTA update for the flagship AGNI 5G smartphone after the government announced the roll-out of 5G services earlier this month.”

Lava Agni sports a large 6.78-inch FHD+ LCD display with a 90Hz refresh rate, 2460×1080 pixels resolution, punch-hole cutout and narrow bezels. Powering the phone is the MediaTek Dimensity 810 SoC paired with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage that is further expandable via a microSD card. The handset boots Android 11 OS with near-stock skin on top.

There is a quad-camera setup on the back, led by a 64MP primary camera with an LED flash, a 5MP ultra-wide-angle lens, a 2MP depth sensor, and a 2MP macro lens. There is a 16MP snapper on the front for selfies and video chats.

Connectivity features include 5G, 4G LTE, dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.1, GPS, and USB Type-C port for charging and data transfers. The Lava Agni 5G packs a 5000mAh battery and it supports 30W fast charging. There is a side-mounted fingerprint sensor for security.
