leica: Xiaomi 12 Ultra rumoured to come in leather and ceramic finish with the iconic red Leica logo – Times of India

After months of rumours and reports, Xiaomi and Leica finally announced their partnership last month. The first Leica co-developed smartphone is expected to come out sometime in June. Soon after that, alleged live images of Xiaomi 12S appeared, showing the camera module with Leica branding. The Xiaomi 12 Ultra was expected to be the first smartphone with Leica powered optics. Now, notable tipster, Digital Chat Station has shared a picture of Xiaomi 12 Ultra’s rear panel showing off Leica’s iconic red logo.
The picture shared by the tipster on Weibo does not show off the entire rear panel, but it does show the much-rumoured circular camera module with Leica written over it. Then, we also get to see Leica’s iconic logo in red in the upper-right corner. If it turns out to be true, then the Xiaomi 12 Ultra would be the only smartphone with the Leica logo except Leica’s own Leitz 1.
In a different post, Digital Chat Station says that they viewed the two colour options of the under testing prototypes of Xiaomi 12 Ultra. The one was allegedly made out of leather in black colour, while there was another ceramic variant with a textured rear panel. Leather is something new for a Xiaomi smartphone, but the brand has enough experience with smartphones made of ceramic.
The Xiaomi 12 Ultra is expected to debut in July with the new Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset. Further, the smartphone would come with Leica co-developed optics having a triple camera setup at the back. Rumours have it that the Xiaomi 12 Ultra would come with a 200MP main sensor accompanied by ultrawide and macro snappers.
