Lewis Hamilton branded a ‘spoiled little boy’ in vicious attack

Lewis Hamilton has been labelled a “spoiled little boy” by former McLaren and Ferrari employee Joan Villadelprat for being a “whiner” about Mercedes’ lack of pace once again this season. It’s been a disappointing campaign so far for the Silver Arrows after promising so much in the build-up to the 2023 season.

Mercedes showed some signs that they were on the right track to catch Red Bull towards the end of last year and Toto Wolff provided an optimistic outlook on where the team were heading. But they were far off the pace in the season-opening Bahrain Grand Prix with Hamilton coming out soon after with a scathing attack on the team.

The seven-time world champion called for “accountability” from the team after he said Mercedes ignored his advice on what the car needed last year. Toto Wolff didn’t appear to take the criticism personally and even admitted soon after Hamilton’s comments that the team were going to scrap their current ‘zeropod’ design.

But Villadelprat believes Hamilton has voiced his opinion too much in a scathing attack on the British racing superstar. “Hamilton is fed up and, if he doesn’t win, he’s like a spoiled little boy: you either win or you break the toys,” he told El Confidencial.

“He’s a whiner, you know. The tyres, the strategy, he questions everything, and he has screwed up. When you have a [teammate] who is faster than you, it is normal to be quiet and put your head under your wing.

“I think he hasn’t lost but, after seven titles… What motivates you? Well, win another. And you’re not going to risk your skin if you don’t have that car.
