Liverpool and Man Utd ex-target Sarr set to replace Zaha at Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace are reportedly considering a move for Watford star Ismaila Sarr as they desperately search the market for a replacement for Wilfried Zaha. The Eagles are set to lose their talisman at the end of the season when his contract at the club expires, much to their disappointment.

Zaha has been the face of Palace since their promotion to the Premier League, though has consistently been linked with an exit from Selhurst Park. Arsenal and Chelsea are among those to have long-admired the Ivorian, and the pair are among a host of clubs reportedly set to battle it out for his signature this summer.

Palace are hoping that they can convince Zaha to stay in what remains of the campaign, having reportedly tabled a new contract offer that will see the winger earn £200,000 a week. However, the Eagles are exploring other options for a ‘worst case scenario’.

According to The Mirror, Watford winger Sarr is a ‘likely target’ and is on the shortlist of candidates that are viewed as Zaha replacements. The Senegal international could be available for a lesser price than expected over the coming months as he enters the final year of his contract at Vicarage Road this summer.

Sarr has been heavily linked with a return to the Premier League over the last few summers and the forward is now ‘likely’ to push for an exit from Vicarage Road after his side failed to bounce back to the English top-flight. The 25-year-old scored 10 and assisted six in 39 league appearances for the club, and that has stirred up interest once again.

Liverpool and Manchester United were both linked with Sarr in 2020, with the latter reportedly coming very close to capturing the winger before they managed to convince Borussia Dortmund to part ways with Jadon Sancho in a deal worth £73million.
