Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp reacts to Diego Simeone hinting he will snub handshake again

Jurgen Klopp has said he has “no problem” with Diego Simeone not shaking his hand after Liverpool’s match against Atletico Madrid on Wednesday night. Tensions ran high in Liverpool’s meeting with Atletico last month at the Wanda Metropolitano.

Liverpool ran out 3-2 winners in a spicy evening in the Spanish capital, which saw Antoine Griezmann sent off in the second half.

Simeone was as lively as ever on the touchline, jumping around and gesturing towards his team and the home fans.

But despite picking up all three points, Klopp was left incensed after the game after seeing Simeone sprint down the tunnel to avoid giving him a post-match handshake.

The Atletico manager has now hinted that he will snub the gesture once again on Wednesday night at Anfield.

“I’ve already explained myself after the first match,” Simeone said.

“I don’t like the handshake greetings after the match as they are the emotions of two different sides in different emotional minds. So I don’t like that greeting after the match.

“I know in the UK it is a custom and all about chivalry, but I don’t share it and I don’t like the falseness. So I behave as I feel.

“I don’t know Klopp as a person, but he is a great coach and has been great everywhere he has been.
