Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp’s hopes of agreeing more summer transfers rely on two players
Liverpool’s hopes of adding to their squad this summer ahead of the new season could rely on them selling two first team players. The Reds are reportedly hoping to move on Divock Origi and Xherdan Shaqiri in order to fund further transfers.
Jurgen Klopp’s side will be hoping to mount a serious title challenge in the upcoming campaign as they aim to wrestle the Premier League title away from Manchester City.
Liverpool looked set to miss out on this season’s Champions League after shock home defeats to Burnley and Fulham saw them slip to eighth back in March.
But a late-season charge saw them end the campaign with a 10-match unbeaten streak which ensured a third-placed finish.
Despite the strong end to the last campaign, Liverpool still finished the season 17 points behind the champions Man City.
And they have had a relatively quiet transfer window in comparison to their title rivals for the upcoming campaign.

And Chelsea are reportedly close to completing the signing of Romelu Lukaku from Inter Milan for a club-record £97.5m.
In comparison, Liverpool have so far only brought in French centre-back Ibrahima Konate from RB Leipzig in the current window.
In terms of outgoings, Liverpool have sold Harry Wilson to recently relegated Fulham for £12.6m and Taiwo Awoniyi to Union Berlin for £5.8m among others.
And according to the Liverpool Echo, Jurgen Klopp will have to get rid of Origi and Shaqiri if they are to add to their squad before the summer window closes at the end of August.
Origi scored in the 2019 Champions League final for the Reds against Tottenham as well as in the historic semi-final win over Barcelona in the same campaign.
But the Belgian forward has never managed to establish a starting spot in Klopp’s first eleven.
Likewise, Shaqiri has spent much of his time at Anfield behind the Liverpool front three of Mohammed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane.
Liverpool begin their Premier League campaign away at newly-promoted Norwich on August 14.
