Liverpool could employ simple transfer tactic to prise Kylian Mbappe away from PSG

Liverpool could move for Kylian Mbappe this summer in a year where they have their best chance to finally snap up the Paris Saint-Germain star. The World Cup winner will see his contract expire in the summer of 2022.

Liverpool could employ a simple tactic to convince PSG to part ways with Mbappe this summer.

It comes as interest in his services ramp up after he hinted he could leave France.

The 22-year-old is still incredibly young but is already regarded as one of the best players in the world.

The striker has an incredible CV, scoring 132 goals in 171 games for PSG in four years, picking up 10 club trophies in the process.

And the Reds have never had a better chance to land the France international than this summer.

Mbappe’s contract will expire in 2022, which means he could leave PSG for nothing at the end of next season.

For the French giants, that would be a complete travesty – considering they splashed £166m out on him back in 2018.

Liverpool have a simple negotiation position – sell him to us or risk losing your most prized asset for nothing.

The fact that Mbappe has yet to put to paper over a new deal this summer opens up the possibility that he is considering his options.

Neymar, who was also in the same boat, signed his own contract earlier this year – putting to bed any speculation over his future.

Real Madrid have long been touted to make a move for Mbappe yet they now appear ready to go all-out for Erling Haaland instead.

It further adds to the notion that this is Liverpool’s best chance to land the wonderkid – though PSG chief Leonardo was bullish over claims that Mbappe will have to be sold.

When asked about his future earlier this year, the Brazilian said: “Mbappe will stay here, 100 per cent. He is a PSG player. The rest is the rest.”

There is nothing wrong with testing that resolve, though, as with everything in football – nothing is 100 per cent.
