Liverpool decision spells bad news for Kane as Klopp eyes next signing

Liverpool have reportedly cooled their interest in Bayern Munich midfielder Ryan Gravenberch. The news will be a big blow for the Bavarian giants who are now without the extra £25million cash injection to help boost their bid for Harry Kane.

Sky Sports’ transfer expert Florian Patterson reports that the Reds are out of the race for the Dutchman and are instead focusing their attention on the signing of Romeo Lavia. However, the Athletic claim that Liverpool aren’t looking to snap up another midfielder until they offload one of their existing players in the centre of the park.

Liverpool recently completed the transfers of Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai and have an abundance of options available to them in the position next season. Besides their new signings, Jordan Henderson, Fabinho, Thiago, Stefan Bajcetic, Curtis Jones, Harvey Elliott and Trent Alexander-Arnold will all be competing for places in the side.

There are also concerns about the £50m asking price for Lavia. Liverpool aren’t keen on paying that much for the 19-year-old when considering the fact that he only has one season of top-flight football under his belt.

Bayern will be hoping offload a number of players this summer as they continue their pursuit of Kane and Gravenberch is believed to be one of them. Yet the 21-year-old is under the assumption he will be staying at the club.

He told Algemeen Dagblad : “I am assuming that I will still be at Bayern next season. That is how I am really in it. I am at a top three club in the world. I think that’s beautiful and special. I am not giving up just like that. My goal is still to succeed at Bayern.”

Although Daniel Levy is making things hard for Kane to get a move away from Spurs, the Tottenham chief does reportedly have a “gentleman’s agreement” with his skipper to allow him to leave for a club outside of England.

This is provided that Tottenham’s £100m valuation of the player is met, an extortionate asking price for a player with one year left on his contract. Bayern haven’t lost hope though and are still keeping tabs on their top target.
