Liverpool have four winners and three losers from international break
Liverpool players have enjoyed varying degrees of success over the international break with the likes of Darwin Nunez enjoying positive moments whereas Trent Alexander-Arnold now faces a battle to win a place at the World Cup. The players have now all returned to Kirkby as they seek to arrest their under-par start to the Premier League campaign against Brighton this weekend, with the club sitting eighth after six games.
Here Express Sport looks at the club’s winners and losers from the international break, with four having things to celebrate while others will be looking for a pick-me-up.
Winner: Darwin Nunez
Nunez is yet to truly impress at Anfield, scoring just once in the league this year while he is also in Jurgen Klopp’s bad books after a needless red card against Crystal Palace. However, he received a much-needed confidence boost while representing Uruguay after scoring during their friendly with Canada.
Loser: Trent Alexander-Arnold
The right-back saw no match action for England during the break and was completely left out of the squad for the Three Lions’ final match before the World Cup. With Gareth Southgate suggesting he lacks the overall quality of Kieran Trippier, his place in Qatar looks under threat with a quiet December now appearing increasingly likely.

Loser: Fabinho
Another player who experienced issues on Brazil duty was Fabinho. The midfielder appears to be behind Manchester United duo Casemiro and Fred in Tite’s pecking order. He made just one appearance for the Selecao leaving him with limited minutes.
Winner: Jurgen Klopp
Arguably the biggest winner of Liverpool’s international break was the Reds boss. Klopp’s sole concern for his players during the two weeks was for them to come back injury free, which they have done. Some like Henderson have even boosted their fitness for their national team, something that will be very well received by the German.
