Liverpool’s Jurgen Klopp gives snappy retort to Jude Bellingham query
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has finally addressed reports the club have abandoned plans to sign Jude Bellingham while appearing to confirm the club’s stance. The Reds have been long-term admirers of Bellingham and were seen as the frontrunners for his signature ahead of the summer transfer window.
But Liverpool fans were knocked for six this week when it was reported the club had pulled out of the running altogether to sign the England international. Klopp will now reportedly use the funds set aside for the transfer window to target several players to bolster his midfield.
The Liverpool boss was immediately asked about the recent reports in his pre-match press conference previewing Monday’s clash with Leeds, at first refusing to give much away. “There’s nothing to say about to be honest,” he said.
“If we don’t speak about players we sign or not sign why will we speak about these kinds of speculations and this kind of news? It’s really nothing to say about.”
But when pressed further, Klopp appeared to confirm that Liverpool are now looking at other targets away from the Dortmund star. He added: “It has always been like this. It’s never changed. It’s is not about Jude Bellingham my answer now.
“I never understand why we constantly talk about things we theoreticaly cannot have. We cannot have six players in the summer for £100m (each). You have to realise what you can do and then you have to work with it.
