Lord of the Rings: New Films On the Way as Embracer and Warner Bros Sign a Deal

Middle Earth is set to return to the big screen once again, as it has been announced that new Lord of the Rings films are in the works.

During a recent Warner Bros. Discovery earnings call, it was revealed that the studio, along with New Line, has struck a multi-year deal with Embracer Group AB, which will allow for multiple adaptations of the J.R.R. Tolkien-created series.

The first Lord of the Rings films were directed by Peter Jackson, which became huge hits. The trilogy of films was released between 2001 and 2003, grossing nearly $3 billion around the world. It also received a whopping 17 Oscars as well. Given the success of these films, it’s no surprise that Warner Bros. would want to continue investing in the franchise.

During an earnings call last year, CEO David Zaslav hinted at the possibility of moving forward with the Lord of the Rings and other franchises, including the potential for more Harry Potter films. Amazon currently owns the TV rights of the franchise, and has already released the first season of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, with a second season on the way.

It would be interesting to see how the new Lord of the Rings films will differ from previous adaptations. There is a massive fan following for the original trilogy, and many passionate fans didn’t like the series, as they even resorted to review-bombing it.
